Hello there!

I’m Alys (she/her), an author and visual artist from Canada. I love writing fiction and digital painting.

About Alys the author

In 2021, after many years of doing no writing at all, I sat down and wrote a short story called The Assistant. To my delight I succeeded in having it published in a local newspaper. Now I’m working on expanding this story (spoiler alert: it’s going to be called This Business of Ghosts) and a bunch of other works of fiction – stay tuned!

About Alys the painter

I’m obsessed with art. I collect art books and prints and when I travel I spend a lot of time in art galleries and museums. So it was inevitable that I’d try making some art myself.

In 2025 I started teaching myself how to paint. Ten months later I sold my first painting (still can’t believe that honestly!). I haven’t settled on my favourite style or medium yet as I’m still experimenting, but my favourite subjects to paint are always the same: flora + fauna, cottagecore, folk art, textiles and anything witchy.
